Chocolate Trio Squares

Three layer Chocolate bars with nuts, coconut, and lots of other tasty things! 

RECIPE:

Layer 1 (Crust):
1/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup sifted flour

Cream together, spread out, and pat down in a greased and floured 9x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Layer 2 (Filling):
2 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar

Beat together well, then add:

1 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla 
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/4 teaspoon salt

Spread over first baked layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Let it cool for a little bit in the pan before you apply the top layer. 

Layer 3 (Chocolate ganache):
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 tablespoon water
Chopped nuts (optional) 

Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave; add 1/4 cup light corn syrup and 1 tablespoon water. Spread over second layer. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.

**I doubled the recipe, so all of the pictures below have twice the amount of ingredients than you will be working with.**



Spread out the base crust evenly before you pat it down to help it stay better when you put on the second layer.








 Try to spread out the chocolate layer evenly all the way to the edge of the pan.
